There will be a Halloween-themed Learning Carnival on Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Success Center located in Founders Hall.

The event is intended to increase awareness of student resources at the Student Success Center.

Attendees will be able to meet with members of mental health counseling, student disability services, College Completion Corps, and tutoring services, including the Writing Center and the Math Den. Sheila Myers, a Perkins Grant coordinator, will also be at the event.

Amanda Althouse, coordinator of Student Success, and Kambuza Mugala, College Completion Corps coach, have been planning this event.

Mugala said there will be Halloween decorations and carnival-style snacks at the event, including popcorn, cotton candy, Cracker Jacks, and Animal Crackers. Snacks will be free for students.

Mugala said there will be admission cards for students to enter a prize raffle. Students can complete the cards by playing the games at each table.

She said prizes include gift cards and a “Monroe-themed goody bag.”

Cakes by Stephanie will be donating treats for the event.

Mugala said she hopes the event spreads awareness of the Student Success resources available to students so they can utilize them and be as successful as possible throughout the semester.

Althouse said the event is intended for students to have fun, get a snack, and meet the Student Success team.

She said she hopes the event helps to reduce the stigma of getting assistance on campus.

Althouse said she hopes by students meeting the team members, they will feel less intimidated to get any assistance they may need.

Mugala agreed and said, “We are all very friendly people.”
