Esports club to make a comeback

The world of esports has grown over the past few years around different schools, and MCCC is one of the schools that will soon be involved in the world of sports online.

Leon Letter, dean of Business division/ esports advisor

Leon Letter, dean of Business Division and advisor of the esports club, said he had previously started an esports club before COVID-19, but it slowly dispersed over time.

“We have been trying to recruit students to join this year. I have been getting everything ready and up and running,” Letter said.

Letter said the club will be student-led, so the meeting date and times are yet to be determined, so all students can meet at the same time.

“The club is for everyone, but if we wanted to go the competitive route, like going against other schools, there are requirements, for instance, being a full-time student and having a minimum grade point average,” he said.

For now, the students of the club will be doing friendly competitions against each other here at the college campus, Letter said.

There are nine games students can play for competitions: Hearthstone, Fortnite, FIFA, Madden, Smash, CS: GO, Rainbow 6: Siege, Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone.
