Experiencing a horror movie for the first time

Of all the genres of movies, I have never watched a horror movie. I decided to venture out for the sole purpose of this article.

Horror movies never really grabbed my attention as something I would enjoy watching. It wasn’t very appealing to purposely cause angst.

I had a hard time choosing the perfect movie, but after careful consideration and a look at the trending list, I decided on The Conjuring.

According to rottentomatoes.com, this movie has 4.7 out of 5 stars.

I chose this because of the list of horror movies that are trending in the United States currently, this one looked the least cheesy. Trust me when I say there was nothing cheesy about it.

The movie starts off with dark loud music that was slightly dramatic but got the job done.

The opening foreshadowed a storyline that seemed made up but as the movie continued, I started to contemplate if dark shadows would follow me throughout the day.

The movie features a family of 7 that moves into a new house and then another couple that studies demonology.

Every major event happened in the middle of the night.

I don’t want to say that I’m afraid of the dark, but after watching, I’m going to second guess going to sleep at night.

This movie being based on a real story made me rethink all of the weird creaking noises that venture though my house and where the sounds are actually coming from.

The family had a demonic entity latched onto their every move, and the only way to unhook it was with a priest.

Night after night, the family was being taunted by a dark figure, and later, a dirty, unkempt, screaming woman.

After the team came in with cameras and listening devices they learned about what had been following them and why the kids were acting so weird.

It most definitely had me roped in from beginning to end.

For this being my first horror movie, I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

I appreciated the music and dark sounds.

The characters were very relatable and the story line was very easy to follow.

The movie might have been a bit too realistic, but that’s what made it such a great movie.

I will be a returning member to the horror genre.
