Frenchtown felt the fury of an EF-1 tornado during the nighttime hours on Tuesday.
“We definitely had a tornado,” said Director of Monroe County Emergency Management Division Mark Hammond.
The National Weather Service first issued a tornado warning for Monroe County around 8:19 p.m. Roughly around 8:23 p.m. a tornado touched down and started a path of damage which ended about 8:32 p.m.
The tornado caused 100 mile per hour winds and was 50-400 feet wide. The path of the tornado was about 4.3 miles long, damaging 9-12 homes.
Two of the homes were destroyed and tree damage has been reported as well.
No injuries were reported.
