If you are itching to bump, set and spike, MCCC’s volleyball club starts Tuesday, Jan. 24.
The club meets twice a week in the gym located in the H building on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30.
Each meeting will be a game, so come ready to play.
Volleyball club adviser Kathleen Czajkowski said everyone is welcome to play no matter how advanced.
“Experience helps the level of play, but I think that the more experienced players can help people who are less experienced learn some techniques to get better,” she said.
“I just want to give people the chance to play and have fun while they exercise.”
Tom Ryder, the Campus Community Events/Student Activities coordinator, asked faculty to advise the volleyball club, and Czajkowski accepted the invitation.
She played intermural volleyball in college and continued to play pick-up games after college until her knee would not allow it.
Last semester she attempted to launch the volleyball club. Czajkowski said they held a few meetings and had scheduled gym time, but the club did not get much interest.
“I don't think we had enough advertising last semester, so hopefully, everyone will encourage people who play volleyball to attend,” Czajkowski said.
She said the club can play with four players, but at least eight players are optimal.
Seven people have already signed-up.
If anyone is interested in playing, they can contact Czajkowski at kczajkowski@monroeccc.edu.
No one is obligated to attend every time.
“Just let me know if you are not coming. That would be great,” Czajkowski said.
