Student Government meetings set

MCCC’s Student Government will meet three times in  September to get organized and elect officers.

Student Government will hold its first meeting of the semester on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 12:30 to 1:30 in the Student Government room, located in the Cellar in the basement of the A Building.

The second meeting, which will take place Sept. 20, will consist of team building activities.

The third meeting will be Tuesday Sept. 27, and will focus on electing officers. Elected positions include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, liaison, and historian.

The president runs the meeting and is in charge of the group.

The vice president is next in charge, and takes the place of the president if the president is not able to attend.

The secretary is responsible for keeping track of event committees and what happens during meetings.

The treasurer keeps track of the budget for the school year, monitoring how much money should be allotted for each event.

The liaison is the ‘face’ of Student Government, speaking on behalf of students during public events.

The Student Government historian documents each event, primarily through photos and videos.

If you are interested in planning college wide events, such as Sweetheart Ball, blood drives, Family Fun Night, and Antiques in April, the meeting on Sept. 13 is for students interested in Student Government.
