MCCC is offering club volleyball to any female students interested in a fun and competitive opportunity.

Club volleyball at MCCC is student run and coached, giving all players equal opportunity to play while fine tuning their volleyball skills.

Karen Turner, MCCC’s Fitness Activities coordinator, is the club adviser and has scheduled the team to compete in a tournament offered at MCCC this December.

This tournament will be held in the gymnasium in the Health Building and is open to any women’s team.

Alexandria Giovanucci, a third year respiratory therapy student, plays outside hitter in her second year on the club team.

Giovanucci said she was looking for an opportunity to continue playing the sport she loved while in college.

"I wanted to play my freshman year, but didn’t know where I could play, but my sophomore year I got an email about the team and that’s how I got started," Giovanucci said.

Nicole Denman, a second-year player, said the team practices on Monday and Wednesday nights.

The team also competes in a recreational league held at the Arthur Lesow Community Center (ALCC) in Monroe, which is on Wednesday nights.

Denman is a back-row player who looks to take control while on the court. She encourages any female student with an interest in volleyball to come out and join the team.

New members are welcome and for any questions or other information, Denman can be reached at ndenman@my.monroeccc.edu.
