MCCC career fair offers opportunities for many

Sean Dechart shakes the hand of an officer as he finds information about a job in criminal justice.

The Career and Opportunity Expo brought out students, both current and alumni, as well as community members.

There was opportunity for welders, police officers, nurses, and more.

Sean Dechert, a 2016 graduate of MCCC, said he was looking for a job in the criminal justice field.

“I try to come to as many of these career expos as I can,” Dechert said. “Today was great. It shed a lot of light on my job search.

Jenna Olson, who also was at the event, was unhappy with how the expo was marketed.

“I have a bachelor’s in Microbiology,” Olson said. “I’m frustrated that they do not advertise the specific jobs available.”

She went on to say that she only came back to the event because Dechert called her.

“He told me that they were looking for crime lab workers,” she said. “They need to do a better job and be more specific. This happens too often.”
