Tentative agreement reached in faculty negotiations

MCCC faculty and administration have reached a tentative agreement in the faculty contract negotiations.

According to an email from MCCC President David Nixon, two steps in the process remain before the contract can be finalized: Ratification by Monroe County Community College Faculty Association (MCCCFA) members and board approval.

Details of the agreement can be made public after these steps.

The faculty contracts expired in August, and negotiations for a new contract had been going on since last spring.

The faculty and administration had decided to bring in the assistance of a state mediator in September to help sort out the remaining issues.

The Nov. 23 meeting had lasted over seven hours.

“All of us offer a sincere thank you to members of both bargaining teams who spent hours/weeks in negotiations,” Nixon wrote.

“There will be time for further discussion once the agreement is permanent and we are able to move forward.”
