New criminal justice club to be formed

Criminal Justice professor Penelope Dunn and her students are forming a Criminal Justice Club for MCCC.

According to Dunn, the club is planning to have field trips to police departments, jails, juvenile correctional facilities, courts, and possibly a crime lab.

The club also will have speakers on campus to provide information about specific areas of interest, as well as participate in some community events.

The Criminal Justice Club is planning on having some informational meetings at the beginning of next semester.

The purpose of the club is to increase interest in criminal justice as it pertains to the interests of club members; to facilitate any member with needed assistance in the area of criminal justice, career growth, or job searches; to expand members’ knowledge of the functions and workings of the criminal justice system; and to gain an appreciation for community level criminal justice issues and concerns and participate in activities which promote justice; and to actively contribute to the Criminal Justice Program at MCCC.

Anyone interested in joining can contact Penelope Dunn at 734-384-4157 or e-mail her at padunn@monroeccc.edu.
