Finals week brings tests and ice cream

With finals week coming up, there’s no doubt that students are feeling the stress.

Papers, projects and tests all due at the same time can really take a toll on students. As students pull all-nighters and become sleep deprived, there has to be something to lighten up the mood.

What’s a better way to make you feel good than ice cream? Everyone loves ice cream.

This is exactly what MCCC’s Student Government thought about when trying to plan an event to ease students stress during finals week.

On Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Student Government will be holding the “Final Freeze” outside the Administration Building.

“We are mainly doing this as a mini end of the semester celebration. Ice cream makes people feel good, and it’s nice for SG to play a part in relieving some of the stress,” said Holly Self, chair of the Final Freeze.

“Yes I think it does help students feel good, especially mint chocolate chip ice cream,” MCCC student Barbara Robinson said.

MCCC student Mara Calabrese also agrees that ice cream makes everything better.

“I really don’t have the time to chair larger events between school, a job, my daughters and my husband’s own job and schooling, so something small like this is a perfect event for me to chair,” Self said.

Tom Ryder, student activities coordinator, isn’t sure if the ice cream will make students feel less stressed, but agrees that everyone likes ice cream.

Ice cream will be 50 cents per scoop. Students will be able to choose from a variety of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Student Government members will also be out at Whitman Thursday, May 6, from 5 pm to 7 pm for Whitman students too.

If it is raining on either day, the Final Freeze will be moved in the hallway outside the cafeteria in the Administration Building.
