Hanna Nadeau

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast,” said Lewis Carroll in his 1865 novel Alice in Wonderland. One of those impossible things happened to be writing for the Agora.

If someone would have told me that I would be invited to write for the school paper, I probably would have laughed. Not because the idea sounded silly, but because I never knew that, I, Hanna, have what it takes to be an author of something not only newsworthy but also publishable.

My dream to be a midwife is what brought me to MCCC.

My dream surfaced when I witnessed the birth of my sister and was given the privilege of cutting her umbilical cord. What may have seemed routine to some, was a pivotal moment in my life and one of the reasons I keep pushing toward my dreams.

I have been accepted into the Registered Nurse program and begin this winter semester.

Aside from being accepted into the RN program, I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honors Society. I was initiated into the honors society this past spring.

I hope to acquire a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the Eastern Michigan University co-op program. I also have hopes to receive my degree in midwifery through Wayne State University.

My son, Apollo, is another reason I keep pushing through my academics and strive to accomplish my dreams. He brings so much light, positivity and happiness to my life.

If I am not giving endless amounts of snuggles to Apollo, chances are I am giving them to my 3 fur babies, Roman, Pickles and Gypsy. They are the most cuddly cats.

Being able to express my creativity in the form of writing, painting, crafts and sewing is important to me and allows me to challenge my depths of creativity.

I hope to bring a fresh writing style and newsworthy information to my fellow students here at MCCC.
